Evaluation - Question 4

How did you use media technologies in the construction, planning, research and evaluation stages?

iMovie - We used this program to make our Music video. The software enabled us to upload our camera footage so we could edit it and use for the final video, here are some editing techniques we used; trimming, mute sound, add sound, merge clips together, and we were also able to add lighting, camera flares to bring out certain shots, and text. For example; in our police interview scene we used a transition to make it look like a security camera and added the date and time aswell to make it seem as real as possible.

Camera/Video Camera - We used a Sony Handycam Cassette Recorder to film all of our shots and clips to upload and use in our music video. Secondly we used a Canon EOS 300D Camera to take the pictures for our Ancillary tasks which were a CD/DVD front and back cover, also a Poster. With the numerous pictures we had taken we uploaded them and as a group chose the best picture for the 3 covers.

Graphics Tablet - This was used to precisly edit photos and our logo to make them cleaner, neater and smoother, we mainly used the Graphics Tablet in the making of our logo, the original drawing was uploaded and using the Tablet it was edited, had colour added and the sides neatened. Using the Tablet was much more useful as it allowed us to use precision editing, whereas using a normal mouse would have made it a lot more difficult.

Music - We uploaded our song choice for our music video onto an iPod and played it through speakers whilst filming shots for the video, we decided to do this because it helped the actors get into character and also assisted them in lip-singing.

Research - As both a group and individually, we researched our chosen band online to help us understand their Genre of music and used examples from previous videos to help us in the making and planning of our Music Video. It also helped with the story line.

Web 2.0 - By using the internet we were able to research many different fonts and logos to use for ourAncillary tasks, we could analyse music videos to show us what they include but most of all for research into what our Music Video should be like.

Evaluation - Question 3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Our first type of audience feedback was a Focus Group that we had set up. It consisted of about 6 students whom were given our drafts, storyboards, narrative and we also gave them some questions to answer about our ideas, from their answers we gained information about what we could improve, what we could change and what didn't work well in our ideas. We also asked the students to tell us what they think of the storyline and how it comes across to them so we can change it to suit our audience.

Secondly, we created our first draft of our Music Video and showed it to a small group of students from different years, who gave us feedback on it on what needs improving or anything that could be replaced, we took this feedback and used it for the creation of our Final Music Video. Lastly we showed our Final video to various students who told us any good or bad points about it so we could improve if need be.

Evaluation - Question 2

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?

I Believe that the Ancillary tasks interest the viewer into watching the Music Video. The CD cover attracts the viewer as it is mysterious in a way as you don't not know what it is about, you then watch the Music Video and it completes the picture of what it is all about, the Poster gives off details but not enough to make the viewer want to watch the video and find out what it is all about, the CD and Poster help to promote the Music Video and again, interest the viewer.
