Using Conventions -
For our music video we used conventions that are used widely and exist in many music videos such as Lip-singing, costumes, also we used actors in our music video instead of the band members to act out the storyline, our Mise-en-scene relates to our music video which means the audience will know what the story is about, finally we used many different camera angles to make an impact on the audience.
For the Ancillary task (CD/DVD cover and Poster) we used the band name, logo and song title to show that there is a connection between all 4 products and so the audience does not get confused, we used great photography to produce a picture that the audience will love to look at.
Development of Conventions -
As a group we developed our storyline to make it seem more interesting to the audience also it gives more information. We also decided to Develop our main character and portray him with a stronger storyline so that the audience will feel like they are him and put themselves in his shoes.
In our Ancillary tasks we continued the story for the audience to follow so they do not get confused on what they are looking at. The product is developed as the audience can make a connection between both the Music video and Ancillary tasks.
Challenge of Conventions -
We challenged Conventions in our Music video because it gave a different view of the storyline, unlike most Lostprophet Music videos that contain the band members we decided to change it and use actors instead creating a different effect to the audience. On the other hand however we kept the realism of Council estates and how people view them, we gained information from our Questionnaires of what people think of Council estates so we used the information to help appeal to the audience and for them to know what to being shown.
Like many CD/DVD covers the show the main character, we stuck to this idea but challenged conventions by editing them and changing things to suit our Music video, by making them look like our video it stops the audience only focusing on who the band is.
